New Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP)

The Minister of Home Affairs, Hlengiwe Mkhize announced the closure of the Zimbabwean Special Permit (ZSP) and the opening of the new Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) on the 08th of September 2017.

The new Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) grants Zimbabweans the right to continue working, studying or conducting their own business in South Africa for a further four (4) years.

The ZEP’s will be issued from 01st January 2018 until 31st December 2021.

Depending on the purpose of their stay, the applicants are required to be in possession of a valid Zimbabwean passport and proof of either employment, business or study.

How to apply:

Applications will open on 15 September through the VFS center.

The administrative fee of the application is R 1090.

From 1  October 2017 all Applicants need to schedule an appointment first with VFS and submit fingerprints as well as necessary supporting documents. Please note: Applicants will need to submit:
